Rental House-Panel Walls

716 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ron45
I am located in Baltimore, MD.

I recently purchased my 1st rental. The property has horrible paneling, the screws are half way in the wall and half way out and its bowing in some places (not bad its just like its missing glue or screws).

I am up for suggestions to make the space desirable (cost effective ones)

I thought I could just tear down the panels and put 1/4in drywall directly over the messed up plaster walls.

Do the bulges go away if you screw the panels down better?
You might be able to simply cover them with another layer if they flatten out.

Well, you know the paneling has to go so get rid of it and then post some pictures of what you're left with. Let's see what the plaster looks like first.
Need those pictures.
No way should paneling should have been screwed.
haha it was screwed with drywall screws you gotta remember some people dont care about rental properties in the baltimore city...I will have pictures Saturday for more suggestions
