We want to install an electric fireplace & have removed all the tiles and are down to the insert. Once we remove the insert & the flue pipe going up the chimney what is the easiest & safest way to close off the chimney to keep the elements out?

That's what I thought but when we went to look for a cap all we could find were vent style caps.

just have one made at a local metal shop- duct work..

you will need to have a custom blank cap made.

Also block off and insulate the entry to the firebox.
