removing tap-con

Hi guys.
I started removing drywall from the previous owner in our basement.(did a poor job and most of it is unfinished).
He had tapconned the furring strips to the block foundation. with EPS under to insulate. I want to remove the furring strips and insulation however i cant get the tapcons out. I am using my 18v B&D drill and have had no luck. Any recommendations would be great....... would an air impact wrench do the trick, is it just cause i have a crappy drill?
Or should i just cut the heads off and patch the holes. and go from there....

#1 Why are you removing it?
If your going to go back and finish the area they can be left in place and just build a 2 X 4 wall.
Going to need an impact driver to get them out. Well worth buying one anyway. Very useful tool to have.

cut them off with a multi-tool. HF has a cheap one and cheap bits. The metal is hard so go slow and let the bit cool often or you'll go through bits 2 per tapcon, I know from experience.

cold chisel & a 2# hammer works for us :thumbsup: maybe not pretty but it'll be covered up, remember ?

No way is a Muiti Tool going to be cutting off case hard screws. It would distroy the blade in seconds.

@Joecaption - I can promise you that it works! I used 2 blades on my first tapcon because I went way to fast. Now I go slow, keep heat low, apply cutting oil and can get 2 or 3 per cheapo blade.

Ayuh,... A 4" angle grinder would be a Much better choice, or better yet, the BFHammer mentioned by itsreallyconc....
