I removed an old fan light from the kitchen, it weighed a ton. But I cannot get the the hook out. It is literally welded to a 10 inch stud bolt which goes through two 2x4s, then anchored with nuts, up in the attic. I got the top nut off, secured the bottom one with a locking wrench, and attempted to turn the bolt, but I just don't have the muscle or leverage to get it. Any suggestions? Should I just take a grinder to it?

It loaded upside down, but this is the deal in the attic.

With the top nut off, remove the spanner and the second nut. The rod should drive down into the room and can be removed.

Were you able to get either of those two nuts in the attic to move?

I got the top nut off, but couldn't get the spanner removed. Such a narrow space with the slope of the roof and I just couldn't get it. So frustrating. I took my dremel up with a metal cutting blade and cut through the bolt.
Thanks for your suggestion and support. I'm sure glad to get that thing out and a new light up in the kitchen.
