Question; I have solid leaf guards on my gutters that were not installed properly. I would like to remove them and install new guards, however the shingles are “really” stuck to the guards. What is the best way to separate the shingles from the gutter guard without damaging the shingles.

How about cutting the guard along the edge of the shingles and leave it stuck to the shingles? Or oscillating saw will cut through the shingle glue easily enough. You can get wider blades (I think half round for tile joints and such) for bit quicker work. Have mineral spirit handy for cleaning the blade now and then.
