My kitchen backsplash is white and has one row that has a fruit tile in every third spot. How do I remove the fruit tile and replace it with a black tile without messing up the backsplash.

Most often you remove the grout, and crack the tile in an X shape with a chisle, remove the tile and replace.

Joe 's method is the standard---those tile you described are soft ,white bisque---not much harder than plaster----
