I have a block wall separating my basement from my garage. I want to remove this completely. I do not believe it is load bearing because it runs parallel with my floor joists. and the steel support beam that runs perpendicular to this wall at the center of my home has a post that is right next to the block wall supporting the steel column.

my home was built in the 60's and I have no idea why they did not use studs for this purpose. I need the garage space for office and plan to frame in garage door opening with a door/window.

Any advice or comments?

Thank you in advance

You need to confirm with a structural engineer on site. My guess would be it is not structural. It was probably done in block because of fire rating requirements between garage and home.
