Hi,
We're trying to take advantage of a great deal on a FLOOR MODEL deal on a fridge.

According to our measurements, after taking the doors and handles off, the fridge is still 1" too wide to fit sideways through one of our doorways.

We were thinking of taking the back panel off. If we did that would we gain an inch? Would we find things to "push in" so that it can squeeze through?

Thanks. A quick reply would be great as my wife is at home depot thinking what to do.

Doubtful. Remove the trim from the door. That would be much easier.

Our problem is AFTER taking the doors and door hinges off. We're hoping we can get another inch by unscrewing the back panel.

At least you measured it first, I had to pull the door jam to get mine in.

Our door jambs are metal, 1 solid piece (1960s construction) so removing the door jamb is not an option for us.

Is there a window in the room large enough to slide it thru? That is odd that you have a metal door jam. Must be a concrete block wall.

Apt is on the 6th floor. All the door and window jambs are metal in the apt. That's the way it was done when they built the building.

I never thought about the building being a semi-commercial building.

The only way too know for certain would be too remove it at the store, beforehand, and see what it does for you, but based on any I recall you're not going to get another full inch. And then of course, even if you did make it, everything is exposed so if you got it cocked or whatever there's nothing to protect the guts. Sounds like one of those cases where it's so close but still too far.

THank you everyone. We decided to pass on the fridge. Such a good price but we couldn't open it up in the store to confirm if it would fit without the back panel.
