Looking for advice.

I need to replace two double windows in my second floor. The new windows are Pella 250 series vinyl double hung with nailing flange. I just did the two first floor windows. Each window is a double and measures 6' by 4.5'. They are pretty heavy - at least two man lift.

I was thinking the windows would be much more manageable if I removed the sashes. I would replace the sashes once they are in place to level and shim the windows in place. I am just worried about how sturdy the vinyl frames would be with the sashes removed.

As long as you do not stand them on the corner or drop them there plenty strong.

As long as you don't rack them, they are fine. Most are installed without the sashes in them for that matter.
