I am trying to find a remote switch to operate my waterfall pumps.
Right now the two pumps are controlled by a standard wall toggle switch mounted in a weather proof box located in the yard. I would like to be able to remotely operate that switch from inside the house.
I have searched everywhere I can think of, and the ones I am finding are for incandescence bulbs only, 300 watts maximum. My pumps are just under 4 amps, each.
I can find remotes that operate a unit that plugs into an outlet, them the pump plugs into the unit. I want something that will operate the switch.
Even a remotely operated relay would do the job, if I could find such a thing. I know it's out there, just can't find it.
Anyone have a suggestion..? There must be more people than me that like to operate pumps remotely....?

Use any relay with contacts that can handle a 4A inductive (motor) load with, let's say, a 24vac coil. Then you run low voltage from a bell 'former out to the relay, which replaces the wall switch. I don't know what the NEC has to say about this, though.
www.hosfelt.com, p/n 45-640 will handle it. $1.75 plus shipping.
Other places that may have a suitable part are Allelectronics, Digi-key, Mouser, Grainger and Jameco.
