Remodeling a kitchen

We have a countertop stove that is built in and a built in oven that doesn't work right anymore. I want to take the counter-top stove out, cut off the gas supply and put in a new electric stove. We have to cut the laminate on the counter-top to put the new stove in. This is an older house that has that metal edging running the lenght of the counter-top. Is there a way to save that so we can wrap it around the corner where we cut out for the new stove ?

The edging is glued in and can't be removed with keeping its original shape. Should just replace the whole thing. When cutting the counter for the space, keep the thickness of edging in mind.
You have a really out dated style of counter top, time for a change.
