I recently completed a project replacing sewer pipe under the basement floor. Half of the basement was carpeted, I rolled up the carpet to expose the area I needed to open the concrete floor. I've rolled the carpet back and along the far end, it's a couple inches short of reaching the wall. No tack strips were removed, they're all still in place and in good condition.

I'm not sure if I'm tackling this as DIY or hiring somebody to do it, but either way I'm looking for some guidance. Any good how-to guides if I go the DIY route? If I wanted to hire, where should I look.

It will take a power stretcher. By the time you rent one, it would probably be better to hire someone. Ask friends and family, someone will know an installer.

I see that Home Depot rents one for $20. On top of that my fiancé says they have one at the office of the mobile home community she works at she might be able to borrow.

If someone just came out and did the job quick for $100 I'd probably take that deal.

Done, when you get somebody out and they say a price, I have the cash in my pocket, and it only takes 15 minutes I can finally say I hired somebody to do something and I'm glad to see it done.
