Is Regular switch to Dimmable switch doable?

any precautions needed before replacing it (other than turning OFF the breaker :smile:)

As long as it's a single pole I don't see any issue.

If you are going to use it with LEDs, make sure to choose one that is known to be compatible. Not all brands of dimmers will work well with all dimmable LEDs.


Lutron has a tool that will help you match their dimmers with various LEDs.

Some LED manufacturers list dimmers in their spec sheets that work with their products.
As long as it is a single pole
A dimmer can also be used on one end of a 3 way setup.

Smart dimmers would be needed in order to be used on both ends.
