We have about a 200 sq ft kitchen area and sheet vinyl on the floor. My husband uses a regular wal-mart bought office chair at the kitchen table (health reasons). He does a lot of reading there so the chair is in constant use. The flooring has buckled or rippled and we are looking to replace the floor. He weighs 180 pounds if that makes any difference.
We are retired, on limited income so can only do this one time. I understand about mats, but the collect dirt (we farm) and they are heavy for me to remove all the time. I know that VCT floor tile will take the wear of a roller chair but they look like hospital flooring and I'd like something with a little more color or character.
We cannot afford hardwood. I have been told conflicting opinions between Lowes and Home Depot when asking them the same questions. That is why I came here.
I would appreciated any recommendations. I have been looking at plank vinyl flooring and laminate. We have laminate in the living room and it holds up well, but we don't use the roller chair there.
Thank you for any thoughts.
We will do the installing ourselves.
