Is there something better than foil ducting tape to secure insulation onto the metal airhandler in the attic? Some of those flex ducts in the attic have large diameters, and it's just hard to get the tape to stick? Anyone have a special taping technique that they use?

Also, it seems that during the cooling season, you can feel the air coming out of the sides and openings in the airhandler, but during the heating season, you can't. Has anyone noticed this?

have you looked into taking some hvac courses? They would help you quite abit.

Use a good quality duct tape or a foil tape rated for hvac use.

Your fan runs on a higher speed for A/C and higher pressure than heating. Metal foil tape sticks very well if you are patient and careful with it. We use it for HRV's etc.

Use spray adhesive first. Also, make sure you use a rub to apply the tape. Some call it a squeegee. It is just a plastic tool to apply the tape. Foil tape has a hard time sticking to some air handlers. I think there is oil residue on the sheet metal. You can follow up with mastic to completely seal it.

Spray adhesive is only used when the duct board is dirty/old or when it has a hard time sticking to an air handler. Goodman units seem to have a film on them.
