reflective insulation

i have a 1932 craftmen house in seattle found a room between the two bedrooms and behind the hallway wall . Iam insulating the backsides of the bedrooms with plastic draped JM insulation and all so with reflectic insulation, plus the roof is this ok with bolth.

"...with reflectic insulation..." i believe any reflective surface needs space between it and whatever it is reflecting to, and it must be kept clean, or it is near useless. check me out on buildingscience.com or greenbuildingadvisor.com, but i am 99.9% sure that is right. no big deal, but no sense wasting the time and money to install it if it is useless.
