I purchased some beautiful trim rings for my otherwise outdated recessed lights. Problem is, they don't sit coompletely flat to the ceiling so you can see a beam of light between the ceiling and the trim ring. We tried to electrical tape the space where the light is coming from, but the heat peels is away. Anyone have this issue and a solution?

What is keeping the trim ring from sitting tight against the ceiling or is the hole too big for the trim ring? Is the ceiling sheet rock or something else?

Also different recessed cans and trims need different heights on the can itself. I might try to raise the can farther into the ceiling by using the wingnuts and slots on the inside of the can. You might also need to find different springs to keep them up, or shorten the manufactured springs. These things are always a problem and you have to just find ways to rig them up.
