You might want to run a razor knife around the edge of the can too. It looks like they painted right over the light and when you take it down it will probably peel large sections of paint off of the ceiling.
Recessed Light Removal Help
I need to temporarily remove some recessed light cans to gain access for running low voltage wire in the ceiling. Can anyone give me advice on removing the can by looking at the picture?
These lights were retrofitted by the previous owner, so I'm pretty sure they are not nailed to rafters. A second floor is above, not an attic. I suspect the black clips are holding it in, but I don't know how to unclip them. I've pushed them up, down, in, out, etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
