OK, I purchased an automatic light switch timer at Home Depot that I want to install on our front outdoor lights for when we are away, the problem is, the switch is only for single pole switches and our front lights are on a dual pole system. The main switch is next to the front door, and the other one is tucked into an unused corner of the garage. Is there a simple way to re-wire the switches to make the switch near the front door a single pole switch so that I can install the timer, and disable the switch in the garage? Thanks!

Simply remove the switch from the garage, and connect the common lead and 1 of the other wires together with a wirenut. Cap off the remaining wire.

At the front door, identify the capped off wire coming from the garage, and cap it off as well. The remaining 2 wires at the front door now only require a single pole switch.
