Hello to all. I'm new here and would love some feedback. I'm re-siding our house. I'll will be stripping all to bare wood. I just installed new Andersen 400 series "new-construction" windows. My dilemma is whether or not to install "green-board" for insulation purpose. Whether I do or don't, I will be wrapping the house with Tyvak. Is it worth it? Do you gain enough "R" value to out-wiegh the costs and extra work? And if so, do you Tyvak to house then green-board or green-board first then Tyvak? The siding that my wife is in love with is Cedar Impressions either Mastic or Certainteed. Being it's a thicker siding how do you compensate around windows and doors etc if green board is used. Thanks to all and all feedback is welcomed.

Good start with the Andersen 400's.
Tilt-wash is way to go. :)
Tyvek house first, then insulation board.
I use 6" window wrap around all windows and doors prior to siding install. This goes on after Tyvek. Bottom, sides, top.
Doesn't hurt to put the insulation board on. You will gain additional R. If you are staying in the home long term, then might as well put the money into it.
Another good call on the CertainTeed Cedar Impressions. :)
I put that on all of my homes that are vinyl.
Stay away from the lighter colors. Will make the house "disappear", if you know what I mean.
I suggest the Forest Green, Pacific Blue, Buckskin or the Barn Red (I think that's the name). The house will stand out and look awesome!
Consider white corners unless you are doing weaved.
Also, house looks awesome with either white vinyl lineals or 1x4 pvc board around windows and doors. Don't have to put the lineals around the doors. But if you go with the 1x4, I would suggest pulling off the brick molding around the doors and putting on the 1x4.
If you really want to make the house look sharp, then pad around the windows and doors before putting on the 1x4 and slide the siding behind the 1x4 eliminating the j-channel. Love that look !!
Don't worry about the projection from the insulation board. It will be fine.

Good Luck with your project and send me some photos when you finish.
