I took down wallpaper in one of my bedrooms and there is a ton of glue leftover on the walls, as well as some cracking. I'd like to re-do the walls before painting. Is it better to re-do the walls using durabond+joint compound or does a bonding agent+plaster veneer fare better? I have heard that joint compound is more forgiving, and there is less cracking. The walls are rock lath.

First forget the dura bond. Seal the walls with a sealer primer called Gardz. Then there is a new product out called fibraFuse not to be confused with Fibra Tape it comes in 36" wide rolls cover the wall with this then skim coat with the lite or ultra lite joint compound, sand, prime, paint. you can find the Fibra Fuse at all wall.com.

thanks for the tips. decided to leave the glue up and put a skim coat of veneer plaster over the wall. after they were sanded they looked great

good luck with that
it could be years but I have seen that ADHESIVE ruin such a job
unless you applied inches of plaster over it.( the PASTE)
