My grandfather is 90 and has moved in with my parents. He has vertigo when going down steps. We would like to install a railing on each side of the steps leading to the front door. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking pressure treated 4x4 for posts and my mom wants composite railings. We also prefer not to install on the steps. I will be digging holes. Once miss utility marks everything.

Railings are a good idea. You can use both materials to get the job done. The posts can be pressure treated and can be covered with a PVC sleeve. The rails and balusters can match the sleeve.

This is the right address. The original picture was one I had taken of a neighbors house as my mom liked the trim around the door. It's the same split foyer style of house and I didn't have a picture of her front door. I still don't now that I think about it.

At least my 90 year old grandfather will have something to hold onto to help him get up and down the stairs. He fractured his pelvis in April so I'm trying to get some items changed around my moms house to make it easier for him.

Even though it was hot and we had sweat pouring off us, I would rather dig more holes again than have to do the angled railing. It was a royal pain.
