i am in a position to redesign my radiator network somewhat because i gutted a lot of my house.

i am curious why radiators are often positioned right below a window when it seems very energy inefficient to me since the window seems like it would draw a lot of the heat out. particularly in one room i have two radiators and i want to eliminate one, i am thinking the one below the window since i think it would be better to position then towards the inside of a room for heat efficiency.

So that you don't freeze when you walk by or sit near the window. The heat is put at the greatest loss area, generally the windows.
