Ok, so the boiler went out, would not start was an error code 11. Its about 8 years old and we opened the water filter knob under the tank to clean the filter. It wasn't there. So we shut the water supply off and drained the drained the boiler, took out about 1/2 gallon of what looks like muddy water, reinstalled the plug and it fired up for a short time then went back to error code 11. Its a Takagi TK4 IN. We brought a new boiler, same model, installed it and it fired right up but it was making a lot of gurgling noises.

That's the limit of my knowledge. The boiler ran fine but was making a lot of noise, groaning, gurgling, temperature is 140 degrees. GPM reads anywhere from 0.5 to 3, in temp was 58, out was 64. Thermostats (3) are set at 65 and 65 and 67. The 2 gauges at the top are always reading zero. The system is closed type with 3 zones for a concrete slab of 3000sf. The red pumps at the bottom of the picture are the 3 zones, the one furthest left gurgles a lot, the middle one not so much and the right one is quiet. Also same with temperature , left is much hotter than right.

Was told it was a low water issue so we topped off the system and got 10lbs of pressure on the top right gauge by the expansion tank and now it wont fire up at all. :plain:

When you heard the gurgling sounds it was most likely air that was not bled out. Low water could cause a shut down. Need to research how to bleed your system of air.
I am a 65yo woman. Husband left, it was his shop, he installed it .. I know enough to get me into trouble. 3 Local plumbing companies, all refuse to come fix it. Say they don't work on owner installed systems.. how helpful of them .. any other ideas ?

Ayuh,..... What water filter under what tank,....

If you hear water movin', that's actually air bubbles that need to be bled off, so the system is completely full of water only, not air,...

When you topped off the system did you use the valve shown in the last pic that has a SS hose connected to it?
And when you added water did you open the other valve just to the right to force out air while filling?

That blows when the water flow is low. Unfortunately, I see no good way set up on your system to purge the radiant loops.

need to fill from one port while bleeding slowly from another. The 2 valves in the last pic I think were set up for this purpose.
To get the air out of all the radiant branches all of the circ pumps will need to be running while bleeding the system. This will take bypassing the controller to pwr the pumps. Everything needs to run while filling and bleeding (without boiler heat) until the pumps quiet down. It could take several minutes to accomplish and this.

The 2 valves in the last pic would normally be used for that. But the secondary loop is not piped up right to do it.
