I need to run a 6g wire thru my rim joist, into the garage and thru some 2x4 studs.

Since I'll be running the wire thru the ceiling of the basement to the floor of the garage, I'd have to bore pretty close to the end of the 2x4 stud.

I know there are rules about how big a hole and how centered the hole must be, but is there any harm in being 2" from the end (bottom) of the stud?

That's where the Nails live,..... Nails are 'ell on drill bits,......

Haha. I thought of that: I'm about 3 inches above the every end, so unless they used some huge spikes in should be clear.
