Not sure I am putting this in correct spot. I am repairing bottom two rows of siding...replacing with 12 inch width of fiber cement board, I know that I have to face fasten due to the width size. I need to find out what type of nails to use....6D Hot dipped galvanized nails or just galvanized nails, twisted or no twist. Should I place a ripped board at the bottom? Does all of the caulking have to be removed from the house totally or just the best that I can? Would that suffice? Then I would caulk the whole house before I wash the house with the chemicals (suggestions are welcomed)and then final coat of paint. I am sure there will be additional questions; however, I did not want to overload everyone at once. Thanks for the help.
