Hi Everyone,

If someone has a moment, I could use some advice. I'm shingling a shed roof. The length of the structure is approximately just under 9' with over-hang and drip edge. I'm on the 7th row and I'm using full shingles but the drip edge and/or overhang might not be completely flush, so I'm about an 1" short of being able to provide a 3/8-1/2" overhang of the drip edge. I'm guessing the structure at this section of the roof is maybe 9' 1" or something like that. Do I simply cut my last shingle and insert a large piece to cover the distance ? What's the proper way of doing this ?

This is the sort of thing that should have been foreseen.

Your shingles likely stagger back and forth 6". So you should have shifted them to hang over the left edge 3" at the start, rather than starting with a full shingle. That way any taper would have been largely hidden once you snapped a chalk line and cut each side.

About all you now can do is cut a shingle to fit and keep going.
