I found a beautiful door that I would like to use for my 2 bedroom doors! It is not a typical size, 84Hx28W. Is there building code that states your Bedroom doors have to be a certain size? I am located in Chicago if that matters

Typical bedroom doors are 30" wide. I think more for getting in the furniture then egress.
Unless you're really, really fat, you should be okay with 28".

You can always call the building dept for your area. In Houston you can use 28" size door for your bedroom.

Call your local building department. Many communities have size requirements for doors. I know of one that requires bathrooms on the first floor to have a 36" door. All that said if all you are doing is replacing an existing 28" door I would just do it.

I can say that the International Residential Code does not have a minimum door width for bedrooms or any other room in the house. The only door that must be a minimum size is the main exit door, which must be 3-0. As stated, it is always best to check local codes to make sure they didn't amend the building code.
