I intend to put power unit in garage, then PVC runs to basement, then back up to the ports on 1st floor.

Question is, if I go through drywall in garage, then go straight down into the bottom plate, won't I hit directly into the rim joist? If so, then do I have to go through the garage's drywall, then thru the next drywall, completely into the house (into let's say a coat closet), then drop down into the basement?

Power unit ? In the garage ? Air handler / fan unit / furnace ?

PVC runs to the basement ? For what ? Air ducts ? Refrigeration lines ? Condensate lines ?
