I want to install 6 recessed under cabinet puck style lights outside in the soffets of my house for accent lighting.

I have not been able to find some that are for outdoor use. I've had plenty of people tell me they would work fine using the indoor ones since they would be covered. Will the indoor ones work for this type of install?

Also, they are going into the plastic type soffet. Will this melt if they were to get hot like halogen.

Here's an example of "about" what I'm picturing going outside. I've seen some better examples at Lowes but cannot find them online.

If you have any ideas on what I can use or recommend a way to install this please let me know.

I was thinking that I could find some Low Voltage recessed round puck-like lights that had a small wall to keep light focused at a certain area. Then I could easily hook them up to a timer to turn on with my outdoor light I have on the Palm trees.

For this use indoor recessed lights are fine. But you need exterior rated lamps. Halogen are too hot for proximity to plastics. Try to find LED lights that will fit in the same fixture.
