Question about Re-Routing Vent Pipe

722 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Curmudgeon10
We are contemplating a little bathroom remodel including inset medicine cabinets. When I last did any work in this bath about six years ago, I recall that at least one of the spots for the recessed cabinets has a vent pipe running through it vertically. Fortunately, it is a non load bearing wall, so I have pretty much a free hand.

In general, is it permissible to re-route the pipe around the cabinet (it probably would take four nineties to do so...). If not, what problem would that type of re routing generate?

It will be fine. As general rule, vents should not be run horizontal until 6" above the flood rim of the fixture- 42" is the rule of thumb
