Okay. So I am skim coating the walls of our new condo to get rid of old, rough texture. I don't know the technical term but I call it "detexturizing". The walls are right where they need to be, nice and smooth after 4 coats of drywall compound. My question has to do with corners. I am ready to start working on the corners. There is already existing metal corner beads that have also been mudded over. Do I buy new metal corner beads and apply them over the existing ones? How do I finish the corners properly?

No, definitely do not install new corner bead over old. Can't you just brush the old corner bead with sandpaper and smoothly apply the skim coat of new mud?

The old corner bead is not in "fantastic" condition. Maybe I will take some pics and then get your recommendation.

If it is beat up, then I'd go ahead and remove it and put new in its place.
