Hi All,

I searched and didn't seem to find an answer to this question:

I'm finishing my basement and need to move my kitchen sink drain line from the floor above. I noticed that in the places where the 1 1/2" pvc runs horizontally, the pvc pipe has a 2" pipe sleeve around it as it runs along my floor joists and through some wall studs.

What is the purpose of the pipe sleeve? I'm just trying to determine whether or not I need to use one where I'm re-routing the line.

I'm in Chaska, Minnesota. Yeah, I was thinking it must be some kind of code requirement. I'll check with the city...

Looks like some kinda protection the pipe is too close to the edge of the studs, what it would need for protection are metal stud guards, or maybe some one just had an extra piece of pipe they didn't know what to do with?? :whistling2:

Odd. You'd get canned for that around here. I wonder if someone had squeaky pipes before. Is this a way to stop expansion squeaks?
