I've installed a new closet toilet but had a problem with the rough in and needed to extend with a 3in PVC pipe outside of an existing T connect in order to install the flange. Thought I had a good seal but after a month the joint is starting to leak. Is there a way to seal or do I need to replace the entire drain

If it were me, I'd get rid of the side-inlet 90 altogether since it doesn't meet code and will only cause problems in the future. Install a 3" x 2" wye and 2" street 45 to pick up the 2" branch, then continue on with a new closet bend and flange - done.

Wow... The toilet drain has to be one of the worst things to try and half-ass. If your determined to fix it without tearing the whole thing apart (maybe your renting or selling? lol), you could try using a rubber coupling with the ring clamps on each ends. Those things are damn good once you get them snugged down - the main tee in my house uses one to go from 4" black iron to 4" PVC.
