Does anyone have any experience tiling stack stone (small) over existing ceramic tile on a gas fireplace surround? Was wondering if standard mortar would hold up or would the stacked stone sheets simply not adhere?

standard mortar needs something to grip onto, ceramic tile would be iffy, if you dont want to rip the tile down, you can screw up wonder board and use construction adhesive too ,over the ceramic tile then do your stacked stone...
