putting down ceramic tile over old linoleum adhesive

i have a house thats 4 years old and im taking up the linoleum can the new tile be put down over the top of the glue?

Glue may be the least of your problems.
What is the substrate?

thanks for responding do you mean what the floor is? if so it's a concrete slab

Then you need an anti fracture membrane first.

Check a product called Ditra and see what their recommendation is for floor prep.
