What’s the best way to protect SER wire?

I have a surface mounted sub-panel and it needs to penetrate the wall and run up to the panel. Can I use EMT conduit for that short run of about 4 feet? Maybe a 2 inch EMT?

It’s a 2-2-2-4 wire so it’s a little less than an inch.

Protected from what?

If the install lends itself to mounting conduit... pull THHN
It’s going to be on stucco on the interior or my garage. I feel more comfortable keep that wire protected.

For most of the wire, it’s going to be within the wall and crawl space. It’s only the last 4-5 feet after it transitions to out the wall. Thinking about just using a short 2 inch conduit for a sleeve for that 4 feet.

Get apiece of 2" schedule 80 PVC conduit. Rip it in half on a table saw and use as a "U" guard over the SER.
