I just picked up some groutable vinyl tile for my media room project and the salesperson at Home Depot sold us regular Portland type grout. From hat I've been reading, the manufacturers recommend only pre-mixed acrylic grout.

The tile is Armstrong so I went by one of their showrooms and they want $120 a gallon for grout and I need 1.25 gallons.

Any recommendations for good grout or am I being too picky?

They are going on bare, clean 1 year old concrete (70 deg room temp). I put down three tiles and I'm not real pleased with how they are sticking. You can step on them and hear them stick then pop loose. The instructions I received from HD said just stick them on. Armstrong said to use their latex primer. Nobody stocks Armstrong's stuff (including their big show room dealers) and they won't recommend anything else. I'm looking at Henry 336 primer to use instead.

thats what i thought.

you gotta "roll em" man. i did about 250sf with a hand roller. its made for laminate counter tops, its in the counter top section at lowes, it was about $15. and it was pita to use. but i didn't want to rent or buy the 100+# roller that would make it easy.

it looks basicly just like this.

btw, i put mine on new plywood. so you may have other issues with the slab, idk, just say'n. but if you ain't roll'n it probably ain't going to stick.

Looks good to me!

I got about half the room done today. I used the Henry 336 and it seems to help.

I'm using a two hand roller too. I'd like to use a bigger one, but it would finish me off just trying to get it down there.

Tomorrow I get all of it in but the cut tiles, that happens Friday. Saturday it will be grout day.
