Hi all,

I'm trying to install a light fixture onto a ceiling fan. Instead of black and white wires, the ceiling fan had blue and white in the little box underneath it (along with other colored wires, though blue and white were the only two with the ends available.) I connected the black wire to the blue and white to white. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be working. I'm very inexperienced with DIY projects, so any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm including a photo of the set-up (with my light fixture connected) as an attachment to this message so that you can get a picture of the set-up. Thanks in advance!

Did you check the bulbs?
Did you pull the chain?
EDITED brric beat me to these lol.

If so, then you might have to take the canopy off where the fan is attached to the ceiling (this might require you to take the whole fan down) and check the blue wire. Since the fan didn't have a light kit, someone might not have hooked up that light wire. If it is just loose up there, then you need to connect it to the two black wires that are already spliced together.

Thanks for the replies, my apologies for not replying back sooner myself. I did check the light bulb and chain. It sounds like the problem is likely in the ceiling fan connection then? I may attempt to take it down myself sometime this week, or I might call in outside assistance. I have not yet decided. Either way, thanks again!

Take the fan down and make sure that the blue wire is also connected to the black. Sounds like they didn't attach it when the fan was installed.
