Toilet was not flushing. We had nothing coming up in the drains. I had the septic tank pumped out as I have been in this house over 10 yrs. and I know from who I bought it from that it had not been done by them and they were here over 10 yrs. The man who did the work said it was packed full. That was two days ago and still the toilet is not working. I have been told that the pipe from the toilet to the tank is full and we will have to get someone to remove the toilet and put an electric snake through it. IF that is true I need to know if there is a less expensive solution to my problem. I am on a small fixed income and I would have to save up that much money.

In my area it is mandatory to have a double cleanout in the line from the house to the tank.
So is there some pipe sticking up in your yard that might be a cleanout?
If so try to stick your garden hose in there water running to blast the clog out .

I recently picked up one of those for a toilet issue at my daughters home. Discovered a tooth brush. That saved an expensive plumber call. (no inexpensive plumbers around here) Friend had a clogged sink and called a plumber. 30 minutes later all cleared. Minimum of 2 hour service call at $190 per hour. Ya I know, but his drive time was less than 15 minutes and it wasn't Xmas day.

Forget to mention. An addition was put on and half the septic and the clean out are underneath it. Had to punch a hole in top of concrete tank to pump it out. Only one clean out required where I live. No way to get under the addition. Plunger did not help either.
Are those plumbing pipes exposed in the basement?
The toiler auger only reaches 2' or 3' past the toilet. This definitely sounds like a DIY repair. There are longer snakes you can get or just pull the toilet. If the toilet has been in place for the same 20 years it might well be due for a new seal,,,before a small leak becomes a big repair. Very common.

Hate to say, but sounds like the addition might not have been permitted and inspected. Access to cleanout and tank should not be under a structure.

I think I should have mentioned that I live in Florida.....there are no basements. I live in a mobile home circa 1968. The additions were added in the late 80's. I am assuming they were permitted because when I look this property up in county records the schematic drawing shows the additions. There is a crawl space beneath the original mobile home and the larger addition. The smaller addition sits directly on the ground and is possibly on a small concrete slab, not sure. This is legal in at least this part of Florida. All you have to do say it's a "shed" for storage and does not require electric. Pipes are either under the mobile home or under ground. Mine are mostly under ground as far as I know. Being a disabled old lady I can't crawl under there to find out, but that's what I've been told.:wink2:
Bought a 50 foot snake. Removed toilet. Did not work and now all the sinks and the bathtub water are coming up through the pipe where the toilet should be. This was not happening before. Also, the snake is stuck solid in the pipe and no amount of pulling, pushing or twisting has moved it. I am at my wits end not being able to fix this as I don't have the money to call a professional. Please help!
