I am repairing the fascia and soffitt on both my dormers but would like to hold off painting/staining until I complete my new porch addition, which will run underneath the dormers, and do it all at the same time...the porch won't be completed until July/Aug...would a primer last this long without painting/staining or should I use something else? A friend suggested I should use a sealer but I would like an expert opinion.
Thank you
Sorry should have posted that...it is all raw wood...the 1x8 fascia is syp and right now I have it in my house since we are having storms and getting ready to freeze for a week then back up to 60s and sunny! Plan to use the primer/sealer on all 6 sides before installing.
Thanks! I'll head to the stores tomorrow! I think I can get the BM Fresh Start here and we also have a Sherwin-Williams store here. Would one be better than the other?
By prmiing and painting all sides it will really help to stop the wood from cupping and seal up the ends where it's going to be soaking up most of the water.
Great way to go.
Thanks for your prompt replies! After Priming, will I need to paint them now or can I wait till I complete the porch? Guess I could paint them before installing also...Not a really big deal I just haven't decided on color yet and wanted the porch trim to match..
