You can put in commercial carpeting (no pad) for approx 6 to 8$/yd. just find your nearest flooring outlet store. Or, often you can find remnants of premium grades at drastically reduced pricing
For a small room like that, you should easily be able to find a remnant at reduced cost. Depending on the type of carpet, you could "score" a remnant for $100, maybe a bit more. Don't forget padding, carpet strips, the rental of installation tools like a knee kicker, carpet stretcher, etc.
