pressure washer problem = Help?

Have a Honda PW, about 5 yrs old, and every 5 minutes the tip nozzle clogs with a tiny shard of metal about 1-2mm wide. Could this be the pump innards breaking up?

It is possible, can't realy tell unless you tear it apart. The only moving parts that could get into the water stream would come from the pump itself. I have tore several different pumps apart to fix them over the years. Not too hard to do.

OK, good to know. So, what exactly in the pump is made of steel/stainless steel? (unless another type metal......)

I imagine there are pump parts that are made of other materials as well, right(nylon, teflon/etc etc??)

All depends on which pump they used. There are only a handfull of units that all manufacturers use

Metal chips. I could only think that they are making their way from the bottom end of the pump(behind the plungers). If that's the case you will need a new pump.

Does it leak horribly?

Any kinks in the hose? inlet filter? Look for easy fixes first before you tear down a pump. What kind of pump will determine if worth a rebuild or trash.
BTW do not stand over the hose if it bursts.

I purchased one at Lowe's. It was part of a telescoping nozzle attachment I got for my Troy Built pressure washer. Gets you as high as most two story homes.
