After a couple hours of pressure washing today the pump started gushing water from the bottom. Found 2 of the bolts underneath. While I can work on larger engines I am clueless about pressure washers. It's a couple years old, always maintained, at least oil, filter, pump liquid, etc. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction to troubleshoot why it failed. I did not get a chance to take anything apart yet. A new pump is about $115 but if the bolt sheared off wondering if something more sinister happened.

It's a Ryobi 3000 psi unit with a Honda engine.

Any of you have anything like this happen?

I have a Simoniz pressure washer that the same thing happened. Replaced all 3 bolts with good ones. It was good for a long time until pump finally failed a few years later. Replaced with a pump made in Italy.

Mine did that a few years back and I thought it was coming from the pump itself, I tore it apart cleaned it and resembled, I didnt see any issues with it either but it kept spraying water. It ended up being the connection on the out hose somehow stopped sealing properly. Even to this day if I don't seat it just right it will spray. Not sure if this is the same issue you are having but its worth looking into. Good luck!

The question is where are the other pieces of the bolts ?

They are most likely frozen in the casting threads. You may or may not be able to get them out.

When it happened to me, my pressure washer was 20+ years old. One look at it was enough to convince me that Extraction was going to be difficult and had small chances of success.

I replaced it with a Honda powered machine vs the B&S engine of the failed machine. If you end up replacing yours, I would recommend a Honda engine regardless of the name on the washer. They are worth the premium cost.

In this image you can see where part of the bottom of the engine near the bolt sheared right off. I have not been able to locate any parts for the gvc190 Honda motor. Might have to find a scrapped motor to get that plate from. Anyone know some sources?
