This totally depends on your location and the wood's location and how 'wet' it is. I've left some more than a year before it was 'dry' enough to trust painting.
I've been advised by my painter friends -
6 months minimum.
They do have paint/stain available, that supposedly can be applied
right away.
Not sure if I would do it, though.

i live in virgina beach va i dont like to paint wood either but its a part of a fance that was replaced and the rest of it is painted so i have to paint it i want to thank eveyone for your replys :thumbup:
