I’ve read various opinions on this.. If I plan on using a solid stain to get a “painted” look on a previously transparent stained house with cedar siding, Other thana good cleaning with a pressure washer, do I need to do any other prep? Will I need to treat or prime with anything?

Thanks!

I agree with all that Mark said. Maybe test a small area first to see if the tannin bleed is going to be a factor. IF so, yes, apply an oil primer. A hassle? Yes, but not as much of a hassle as doing the entire home only to find those tea colored stains from Tannin bleed making an appearance on your freshly updated siding.
