I'm thinking of making a solar pool heater, but would rather not die a deadly death. Is the black poly tubing you use for drip irrigation rated ANSI/NSF-PW or ANSI/NSF-61 so I can use it without getting cancer from the sweet tasting organic off-gassing of vinyl chloride?

When using potable water for anything like this, you'll need a proper backflow preventor, so any possible contamination that occurs on the outlet side of it won't poison you, your family or anybody in your neighbourhood. Probably an expensive one, too, like a reduced pressure backflow assembly. The tubing type isn't the real issue here.

This is a closed system.. the water comes out of the pool goes to the pipe, gets heated, and back into the pool... no city water is involved... backflow??
