Hi...I came home from work and 15amp for the bedroom was tripped and the 60 AMP was tripped (and loose in the panel). I have an airtron furnace with a 30 AMP and 60 AMP breaker in the panel that both say "Furnace" on them. When I reset the breaker on the bedroom, everything was fine (for that circuit), but when I reset the 60 AMP breaker on the furnace, there was a light flicker and a wubba wubba sound, so I turned it back to off. Now, the furnace is still working while only using the 30 AMP breaker. Any ideas...?

House was a model built in 2006, furnace installed in 2006...
I bought the house in 2008

Are all parts of the furnace working? Or is the blower going while there is no heat or limited heat?

Are there other circuits in the house that are dead even though their breakers are on?

Any unusually dim lights elsewhere? Incandescent lights show this more noticeably.

Is the 60 amp breaker for air conditioning only?

My guess is that the 60amp breaker tripped because it was loose. It must be for something other than the furnace, did you tighten it down? Seems odd for such a new house, I guess the installer didn't eat his Wheaties that morning.

To JasperST: I've pushed it in and it still did the same thing so I cut it off before something blew up in the circuit breaker box...

AllenJ: the AC unit has its own 60 dual pole breaker this furnace has a 30 amp and a 60 amp breaker of its own... No 1 usually demo lights anywhere however I will check out the sockets and everything when I get back with my meter I'm at work now.

The wubba wubba sound is the worst. I think your furnace has two circuits for two different sections of electric heat, and the section powered from the 60A breaker has a short. It may seem to be working, but probably at reduced heating power.

Yeah that's what I was thinking I went in the attic and check the wires I didn't find anything i have to open up the furnace I think that is where its at.
