i just had my shower redone w/new fixtures. My question is isn't the faucet plate suppose to be flush with the wall? and my showerhead is brushed nickel but the contractor put in a chrome/stainless steel faucet/plate. It doesn't match and now he says he couldn't get a plate, etc in brushed nickel because the plumbing needs to be changed. Shouldn't he have told me this before he finished the job and did what he did? See attached pictures.

Am i being unreasonable to want the fixtures to match? Thank you in advance.

Plate should have been tight to the wall.
The rest of his story was total B/S.
One screw and the handle comes off, two more and the whole plate come off, no "plumbing" involved.

Is that a gap just above the screw on the trim ring. That looks terrible, is that screw even connected to the diverter. You should be able to tighten the screws and pull the plate closer to the tile. It does not look like the right trim at all.
