I now own an old central Florida home with a wonderful and intact concrete driveway probably 50+ years old. Years of pressure washing has made the surface porous and so it turns black again very quickly. I would like advice on sealing the surface. I would prefer it not become shiny, slippery or look painted. I would like it to look like a concrete driveway and stay that way for as long as possible before it turns black again. I would love to hear from someone who has been there, done that.

Once it has the exposed aggregate and roughened texture, it is going to absorb the moisture and will show mold/mildew growth pretty quickly. There are some penetrating sealants that do not dry shiny that might help, but on a flat surface like that, it will take on water regardless.

There is also the possibility that water will perc from the bottom up for that matter.

There are cleaners that kill mold/mildew pretty readily but I am not sure they would be recommended for regular use either outdoors or on concrete that is already showing wear and tear.

I am sure one of the concrete folks on here might have an old trick up their sleeves.

I use Quikrete Vinyl Concrete patch to resurface old concrete surfaces that have seen better times.

The only problem that I have had with it is when it gets to spring thaw season, water will seep between the patch and the concrete, and freeze at night and pop it free.

You say that you are in Florida so a freeze thaw in spring is not very likely.

You will need a trowel, and kneepads, because crawling around on those little rocks HURTS. :vs_no_no_no:

Mix enough to cover an entire section from expansion joint to expansion joint at the same time, and trowel it out smooth, crawling backward to the next section.

Try that and see a great difference in it's appearance.

Forgo to say that Concrobium is a great mold killer.
